ABOUT MR. ALLOCCO

Mr. David Allocco is in his nineteenth year at Paramus High School and serves as the lead teacher of the social studies department. A graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Mr. Allocco worked in the advertising field prior to entering education. This experience has served him well in the classroom. Mr. Allocco uses the principles of advertising when developing lesson plans in order to “sell” history to students. It’s all about finding what’s unique about the subject matter, knowing your audience, and delivering a message that sticks to the students. Mr. Allocco also holds a Master’s Degree in social science with a concentration in history from Montclair State University.
Mr. Allocco is a firm believer in the ability to reach all students using 21st century technology. He employs the use of multimedia, gaming, and differentiated instruction. As a result, Mr. Allocco's work has been featured on NJTV's “Classroom Close-Up” and a book entitled Best Practices in Social Studies Assessment.

Mr. Allocco was named Paramus High School's Teacher of the Year for 2015-16.
